Dormant accounts, often associated with unclaimed assets, present unique challenges to financial institutions. Proper management of these accounts is not only a matter of regulatory compliance but also a commitment to upholding the rights and interests of clients and their heirs.

The new e-Learning course provides an in-depth exploration of the regulatory framework governing dormant accounts in Switzerland, including:

  1. Regulation Overview: Detailed explanation of the Swiss Banker’s Association’s NARILO guidelines as well as Swiss Banking Ordinance and Swiss Banking Act provisions related to dormant assets.

  2. Prevention Measures: Strategies for banks to maintain contact with clients and avoid account dormancy.

  3. Loss of Contact and Active Search: Procedures for identifying lost contact and initiating active searches to locate clients or beneficiaries.

  4. Safeguarding Assets: Best practices for managing dormant assets to protect client interests.

  5. Publication and Liquidation: Steps for the publication of dormant assets and their eventual liquidation.

The course’s content includes interactive modules and real-world scenarios to ensure participants gain practical insights into managing dormant accounts. From understanding the legal definitions of dormancy to implementing effective prevention measures, this course covers all critical aspects that banking professionals need to know.

Participants will take approximately 60 minutes to complete the course, which concludes with an assessment to validate their understanding. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate recognized by SAQ – Swiss Association for Quality.

The e-Learning course is available as part of a corporate subscription or can be purchased by individual professionals directly through the Indigita e-Shop:
